We thought and thought, finally I had an idea. We will take a whole jug of water and every second story, we would drink a sip. Everybody liked that idea, so we went up and up and finally got to our apartment. We got out a few candles and a few flashlights and went to sleep. The next day, when I woke up it was very chilly. I wore three layers of clothes and that made me feel slightly better. I woke my parents up and my dad and I went downstairs because we heard that there was free coffee. Sure enough, almost the whole building was downstairs drinking tea. The electricity was on in the main entrance because of a backup generator. My dad charged up all the electronics devices that we had and I also charged up my I pod. We went back upstairs climbing all of the 18 stories. When we got up we were huffing and puffing when we opened our apartment door. My mom asked “what happened” we just simply replied by saying that never go down 18 stories and back up unless if there is an emergency. By the look on my dad and my face, my mom agreed. My friend’s mom and dad came to our 18th story apartment and they were also huffing and puffing. I asked if they need water and they said yes happily. While I poured them water, my parents were talking to them about evacuating the building. They all decided to go to a hotel. So we were driving and nowhere there was a hotel o be seen that had either electricity or it was fully booked. The parents were talking again and since there was light in Princeton. And I had a really close family friend we decided to stay there. But at the end of the day, everyone was sad because no 1. We still had no power and no.2 a lot of people were in worse conditions then us :( :( :(. So, we decided to go to my friend’s house at Princeton, but it was not again that simple as we had to take a whole lot of detours. I thought that we will never make it. But finally we did and when we came in it was like a miracle to see light, electricity and feel warm after a really dark and cold day. My friend’s parents not only welcomed us but served as very nice dinner and provided us all the comfort beyond our imagination. It was Tuesday night and we finally slept in a warm and cozy house hoping that things will turnaround very soon.
