Over the course of many years, I have gotten to love Target so much. Not necessarily just because of their goods, but because of the memories. My world is always changing, but going to Target every Saturday with my dad has been a constant. Every Saturday we walk in, I go to the fruit section and my dad goes to get milk and eggs. We meet up and get cereal, bread, and vegetables together. Every Saturday, my dad finds an excuse to go the electronics section for just a couple minutes, while every Saturday I make myself cozy in the book section until he’s ready. Both of us know that no matter what happens during the week, rain or sun, Saturday afternoons in Target is when we spend time together, just the two of us. Because of Target, I have bonded with my dad in so many ways that I could have never imagined before. Because of the floaties he bought me, he taught me how to swim. Because of the bike he gifted me, I learned how to ride my bike. And during our times waiting at the cashier to check out, or walking through the aisles, the small bits of conversation I would never give up for anything. The trips we take every week have a special place in my heart that I know I am going to cherish for the rest of my life. As I grow older, I am going to have to face challenges that are more complicated than learning how to swim or ride a bike. But I know through it all, my dad is going to be right next to me.
